Under current law, you are eligible to begin collecting Social Security retirement benefits at age 67. How likely is it that you will receive all promised benefits?
  • Very likely 5%
  • Somewhat likely 21%
  • Not very likely 26%
  • Not at all likely 43%
National survey of 400 likely voters under 40 years of age was conducted June 21, 2011. The margin of error is +/- 5 percentage points.

Inside the numbers:
Thirty-four percent (34%) of young Democrats think it’s somewhat likely they’ll receive their full benefits. That optimism is shared by 26% of young Republicans and 20% of those under 40 and not affiliated with either major political party.
