Inside the numbers:
Obama leads Perry by 10 points among male voters and by 14 among women. The Republican runs better than the president among elderly voters but trails in all other age groups.

Among voters not affiliated with either political party, Obama holds a 45% to 26% advantage, but 29% of these voters either prefer some other candidate or are undecided.

Sixty-four percent (64%) of conservatives like Perry, but 57% of moderates and 81% of liberals favor the president.

Perry leads Obama among voters who have served in the military, 42% to 33%. Among voters who have never served in the military, Obama holds a 48% to 32% advantage.
