Survey of 500 New Mexico voters was conducted April 3, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted February 14, 2012 are in parentheses.

Inside the numbers:
The president comes out on top of both Republicans among both men and women but is more heavily favored by females. Younger voters strongly prefer the president, while retirees strongly support Romney. Voters 40 to 64 are almost evenly divided.

Among voters not affiliated with either political party, it’s Obama 49%, Romney 30% and Obama 50%, Santorum 32%.

Hispanic voters continue to overwhelmingly prefer the president in both match-ups.
