When asked to characterize their support of a candidate, 72 percent of Inslee backers said they were "enthusiastic" vs. 25 percent who said they had reservations. Just a month ago, only 58 percent of Inslee supporters rated themselves as "enthusiastic." McKenna's enthusiastic support remains virtually unchanged at 70 percent.
McKenna continues to do well in Eastern Washington, getting about 50 percent of the vote east of the Cascades. However, in the Puget Sound area, McKenna is just below 40 percent.

The survey found 72 percent of McKenna's supporters describe themselves as enthusiastic vs. 58 percent of Inslee's.
Washington voters believe McKenna would do a better job managing the state budget (43 percent vs. 32 percent for Inslee). But it's now a draw on education, with 34 percent saying McKenna would be stronger, compared with 35 percent who believe Inslee would be stronger on education.

The poll found that McKenna has higher favorability ratings, with 37 percent saying they have a positive opinion of him and 29 percent saying they have a favorable opinion of Inslee.
On the issue of legalizing marijuana, voters are split at 43 percent, with 9 percent needing to know more information and 4 percent not expressing an opinion. Initiative 502, which would legalize and tax sales of marijuana to adults 21 and over, will be on the November ballot. In September, a Strategies 360 found voters were equally split, at 46 percent for and 46 percent against legalization.
The initiative would create a system of state-licensed growers, processors and stores, and impose a 25 percent excise tax at each stage. Those 21 and over could buy up to an ounce of dried marijuana; one pound of marijuana-infused product in solid form, such as brownies; or 72 ounces of marijuana-infused liquids.
In Washington, there is a proposal to legalize possession of up to one ounce of marijuana, and subject the purchase of marijuana to a 25 percent tax. Do you support or oppose this proposal?
