National survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted May 10-11, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted April 10-11, 2012 are in curly brackets.  Results from the poll conducted March 1-2, 2012 are in parentheses.  Results from the poll conducted January 13-14, 2012 are in square brackets.

Inside the numbers:
Predictably, Obama and Romney earn strong support from voters in their respective parties, although Democrats are slightly more supportive of Romney than Republicans are of the president. Voters not affiliated with either of the major parties trust Romney more by anywhere from four to 14 points in all five areas.
