    Survey of 500 likely voters was conducted August 21, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.

    Inside the numbers:
    Romney leads by eight points among male voters in Connecticut but trails by 21 among female voters. As has been seen in other states, the president is the favorite of voters under 40, while their elders prefer his GOP challenger.

    The candidates are tied among voters not affiliated with either of the major political parties.

    Seventy percent (70%) of voters in the state regard the president as a liberal, including 41% who say he’s very liberal. Romney is considered a conservative by 68%, but that includes only 26% who feel he is very conservative.
