Inside the numbers:

Rehberg draws support from 87% of Republicans, while Tester is backed by 85% of Democrats in Montana. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, Rehberg leads by five points.

Rehberg, a six-term congressman, is viewed very favorably by 23% and very unfavorably by 29%. Reviews for Tester, who is seeking a second term in the Senate, are 24% very favorable, 31% very unfavorable. Views on Rehberg show no change since June, while Tester’s have grown slightly more negative.
