Inside the numbers:
Obama leads by seven points among female voters in Ohio, while Romney has a four-point advantage among male voters. Most married voters prefer the Republican, but the majority of unmarried voters favors the incumbent.

Voters not affiliated with either of the major parties are evenly divided.

The president captures 52% support among voters under 40, while Romney has 50% of the vote among those who are older.

Voters in the state trust Romney more than Obama by a narrow two-point margin – 48% to 46% - when it comes to handling the economy.

But on four other key issues, Ohio voters trust the president a bit more. When it comes to national security, Obama leads in voter trust 49% to 44%, and voters give the incumbent the edge 47% to 43% in the area of health care. Obama has a 47% to 45% advantage over Romney on the issue of taxes. It’s Obama 45%, Romney 44% when voters are asked who they trust more to handle energy policy.
