Survey of voters was conducted September 6-9, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.3 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted July 17-19, 2012 are in parentheses.  Results from the poll conducted May 9-10, 2012 are in curly brackets.  Results from the poll conducted January 31 - February 2, 2012 are in square brackets.  Results from the poll conducted November 2-7, 2011 are in parentheses.
Inside the numbers:
Most of Obama's lead is attributed to a huge advantage among female voters where he has a 17-point lead, three points higher than July. Obama now also leads among independents 43 percent to 40 percent, erasing a 4-point Romney lead in July.

Obama leads in all regions of the state except for southern Minnesota where Romney has a 47 percent to 39 percent lead. Obama leads in the Twin Cities metro area 52 percent to 39 percent.
