Senator Harry Reid recently introduced the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act, also known as the DREAM Act. This bill would provide illegal immigrant students, who graduate from US high schools, entered the country before the age of 16 and have been in the country for five years the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency. Alien students would gain permanent residency if they completed two years of military service with an honorable discharge or completed at least two years of college in pursuit of a bachelor's or graduate degree.
