Inside the numbers:
Obama leads Gingrich by 15 points among women but holds just a three-point edge among men. 
Among voters not affiliated with either major political party, the president bests Gingrich 46% to 33%. 
Voters under 40 still prefer the president, while older voters tend to favor the Republican. 
Obama leads Gingrich by a two-to-one margin among government workers and by nine points those who work for private companies, Gingrich has the edge among entrepreneurs and retirees.
