Inside the numbers:
Not surprisingly, Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly trust their own party’s presidential candidate more on all five issues. Voters not affiliated with either major political party give Romney double-digit advantages over the president on the economy, health care and taxes. Romney holds a seven-point edge on national security among unaffiliated voters and leads 43% to 41% when it comes to energy policy.
Male voters put their trust in Romney on all five issues, while female voters tend to trust the president more on all five.
Voters under 40 tend to trust the president more than Romney on these issues, but their elders lean towards Romney in every case.
