Survey of 579 likely voters was conducted September 27-29, 2010. The margin of error is +/- 4.2 percentage points. Party ID breakdown: 34% Democrat; 30% Republican; 35% Independent. Political ideology: 45% Moderate; 32% Conservative; 19% Liberal. Abortion: 58% Pro-choice; 39% Pro-life. Education: 67% College graduate; 33% Not a college graduate. Results from the poll conducted August 31 - September 2, 2010 are in parentheses.
Inside the numbers:
Reichert, first elected in 2004, leads 10:1 among Republicans. DelBene, a businesswoman and former Microsoft VP, leads 5:1 among Democrats, 17% of whom cross over to vote for the incumbent. Independents break 5:4 Republican. In the 2008 presidential election, Barack Obama won WA-8 with 57% of the vote.
