Survey of 600 likely voters was conducted October 17-18, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4 percentage points. Results from the poll conducted July 10-11, 2012 are in parentheses.
Among the 87% of North Dakota voters who say they've already made up their minds how they will vote, the race is Romney 59%, Obama 41%.
Romney leads the president by more than 20 points in five key policy areas - the economy, health care, national security, taxes and energy policy - when North Dakota voters are asked whom they trust more. On the most important issue of the economy, 58% of North Dakota voters trust Romney more, while 35% have more confidence in Obama.
The Republican also leads the president 55% to 36% on national security, 60% to 34% on taxes, 59% to 36% on health care and 61% to 30% on energy policy in North Dakota.
Among voters not affiliated with either major party in the state, Romney has 15-point lead.
