Inside the numbers:
Eighty-two percent (82%) of voters in the state now say they are certain of how they will vote. Among these voters, Obama earns 55% support to Romney’s 45%.
As in most states and nationally, younger voters tend to favor the president while their elders support Romney.
Romney earns the support of 89% of Connecticut Republicans, while Obama picks up 81% backing from members of his party.
Among all voters in Connecticut, 49% trust the president more to handle the issue of the economy, while nearly as many (47%) have more faith in Romney. When it comes to national security, Obama is ahead in voter trust 52% to 43%.
If Obama is reelected and Democrats regain control of Congress, 43% of Connecticut voters think the U.S. economy will get better, while 39% say it will get worse. Similarly, 44% expect the economy to improve if Romney is elected president and Republicans win full control of Congress, while 40% say it will get worse.
