Inside the numbers:
Eighty-seven percent (87%) of likely New Mexico voters are certain of their vote at this time. Among these voters, 56% prefer the president, while 44% support Romney.
Voters in the state not affiliated with either major political party prefer the president by a 52% to 41% margin.
By a 51% to 44% margin, New Mexico voters trust the president more than Romney when it comes to handling the economy. They also give the president a 53% to 42% edge on national security.
Forty-six percent (46%) of New Mexico voters believe the economy will get better if Obama is reelected and Democrats regain control of Congress. By comparison, just 37% feel the economy will improve if Romney is elected and Republicans take control of Congress.
