Survey of 500 likely New Mexico voters was conducted September 27, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points.  Results from the poll conducted August 21, 2012 are in curly brackets.  Results from the poll conducted April 3, 2012 are in square brackets.  Results from the poll conducted February 14, 2012 are in parentheses.

Inside the numbers:
Obama has a 26-point lead among female voters in New Mexico, while Romney leads among male voters in the state by five. The president is well ahead in all age demographic groups.
Voters not affiliated with either major party prefer the president by a 49% to 31% margin.
Obama also posts double-digit leads over his Republican challenger when New Mexico voters are asked whom they trust more in five key policy areas – the economy, health care, national security, taxes and energy policy.
